eduFire Raises $400k Angel Round For Online Language Learning

By Joseph Weisenthal - Wed 09 Apr 2008 10:48 PM PST

eduFire, a peer-to-peer language learning start-up, has raised $400,000 from unidentified angels, the company’s CEO Jon Bischke, told socalTECH. The LA-based company is developing a platform whereby language tutors can and learner can connect and then interact over online video. The concept is similar to that of LiveMocha, which raised $6 million last year, for a social net based on language learning. In a broader sense, it’s also similar to recently launched how-to start-up Mindbites, in that it’s a video platform that offers a way to compensate individuals for their expertise.

I’ve been using the site and it’s fantastic. Good to see education-related startups starting to spring up in SoCal!
