Earnings: RealNetworks Revenue Up 55 Percent

By James Quintana Pearce - Tue 30 Oct 2007 06:34 PM PST

RealNetworks (NSDQ: RNWK) grew its revenue by 55 percent in Q307 to $145.1 million, up from $93.7 million a year ago. Net income for the quarter fell dramatically year-on-year to $4.3 million or $0.03 per diluted share compared to $42.2 million or $0.24 per diluted share in the third quarter of 2006—this was due to some special items a year ago. Adjusted EBITDA for the third quarter of 2007 was $13.6 million compared to $7.6 million in the third quarter of 2006. The breakdown of revenue is: Games revenue of $28.8 million, a 28 percent increase over the third quarter of 2006; Music revenue of $37.7 million, a 24 percent increase over the third quarter of 2006; Technology Products and Solutions revenue of $53.3 million, a 377 percent increase over the third quarter of 2006, due in large part to the acquisition of WiderThan during the fourth quarter of 2006; and Media Software and Services revenue of $25.3 million, a 14 percent decrease from the third quarter of 2006.
