Dow Jones Recommitting To Ventures Group Again; Will Consider Acquisitions

By Rafat Ali - Fri 01 Feb 2008 01:59 PM PST

Dow Jones (NYSE: NWS), which announced its Dow Jones Ventures group about two years ago and then for the most part went silent over it (except for the DJ-IAC (NSDQ: IACI) personal finance JV), is now recommitting to it again, as it arguably gets new energy being part of News Corp. The company said today that Ann Sarnoff, president of DJV, will strengthen both her team and resources (this means she is not leaving after the buyout, as some people expected). She will be charged with creating new consumer-driven products and businesses, focusing on digital, and will report to Les Hinton, the CEO of Dow Jones.

The group will also consider acquisitions, and it says successful ventures will be merged into the bigger company.
