CES Wire: Panasonic And Google; AOL; TiVo; Sony

-- Panasonic And Google Developing Internet TVs: Matsushita Electric Industrial Co Ltd’s Panasonic unit and Google (NSDQ: GOOG) will team up to develop televisions enabling users to watch online content, including direct access to YouTube videos and Picasa Web Albums, Google’s online photo-sharing service.

-- AOL Expands Online Storage Services, Adds Facebook App: AOL (NYSE: TWX) is building up its BlueString site, which provides free uploading, storage, and sharing of digital media. The service has been fashioned as a special app for Facebook and is slated to complete its beta test before the end of Q108. AOL is also preparing to release a complementary digital storage product. AOL will begin beta testing a new version of Xdrive, an online hard drive that also allows users to store and share their backed-up files.

-- TiVo To Offer Web Video Viewing: TiVo Inc (NSDQ: TIVO). has announced a new feature on its digital video recording service enabling users to view internet videos on their televisions. Starting in March, existing subscribers can record Web videos on TiVo’s TV-based menu system or upgrade their desktop software for free to enable video recording via content on RSS feeds, ranging from network news to independent sites. The service will cost $24.95 for new users.

-- Sony Brings Minisodes To YouTube: Sony (NYSE: SNE) Pictures Television has made a deal with YouTube to provide five-minute versions of several popular TV shows, called “minisodes,” for the video-sharing site. Sony will follow that with several other genre-specific channels over the next few months.
