CES: NBCU’s Big Spend AT CES: Consumer, Content, Connection, And Cash

By Rafat Ali - Sun 06 Jan 2008 05:43 PM PST

imageNBC Universal (NYSE: GE) is spending big at CES, and has a huge booth, and tons of show airtime on its network of channels to prove it. Firstly its special CES website will give you the list of broadcasts it will do from there, plus all the company top execs are in Vegas. Then its CES blog is, well, impressive for a corporate blog. As to how and why a content conglomerate ended up at CES, this blog post gives the story. “Our booth at CES will include 290 web sites, 61 presentation tapes, 18 downloadable pieces of content, and 14 interactive sizzle reels on what’s called the iWall.”

Some digital launches are also planned: AccessHollywood.com will get a redesign and launch as a celebrity blog, much like TMZ.com, the newly redesigned PageSix.com and others. Nightly.msnbc.com will also relaunch, with Brian Williams broadcasting live from CES starting Wednesday. Also, Beet.tv reports that these news programs and clips will have sharable embed codes, a good step forward.

All in the name of getting some digital mojo…
