CBS Reforms Celebrity Culture Site Dotspotter As TheInsider

By David Kaplan - Tue 17 Jun 2008 01:53 PM PST

imageCBS (NYSE: CBS) has unveiled a “sneak peak” of its challenge to celebrity blogs like TMZ.com and PerezHilton: TheInsider.com. The site, which is tied to CBS TV Distribution’s syndicated TV program of the same name, takes over the architecture that once belonged to Dotspotter, the year-old celebrity community which CBS bought last October for $10 million. But more than just going head to head with established celebrity gossips, CBS says in an e-mail announcement that it hopes to create a TV/web pop culture offering modeled on the arrangement CBS Sports has with CBSSports.com.
