Babinet Secures $6.5 Million For MXP4

By James Quintana Pearce - Fri 09 Mar 2007 05:16 AM PST

Gilles Babinet, who founded Musiwave and most recently mobile video start-up Eyeka, has secured $6.5 million in funding for his new start-up MXP4, reports Mobile Entertainment. The funding was from Sofinnova Partners and Ventech and will be used to reinforce the team and develop the technical platform.
Although Babinet has a history of mobile stuff, this appears to be focused more generally on digital music, and will be “a new digital audio standard that allows artists, professionals and listeners to add an interactive, non-linear dimension to their music”. I’m not entirely sure what that is, but the Babelfish translation of the website leads me to think it means the songs are different everytime you listen to them, “an always different and always harmonious interpretation” like a live concert.
