10-K Watch: Gannett Takes Stake In Uloop; $70.6 Million On Acquisitions And Investments

Some details from Gannett’s (NYSE: GCI) 10-K filed with the SEC:

-- Uloop: This appears to have been undisclosed until now… in December 2007, Gannett made an investment in Uloop, a classifieds site for anyone with a .edu address. The amount and size of the stake was not stated.

-- Acquisitions and investments: In 2007, Gannett acquired student newspaper Central Florida Future and a publisher of weekly shoppers Central Ohio Advertiser Network. It also took a majority stake in Schedule Star, the parent of HighSchoolSports.net, while making an investment in Metromix LLC, its joint venture with Tribune, as well as the aforementioned Uloop. Altogether, the company spent $30.6 million on its acquisitions and $40 million on investments.

-- Metromix: The JV is currently in 30 metro markets and the company says it plans to expand it into more in the next few months.
